About No4
No.4 first opened its door in November 2005 as a neighbourhood restaurant serving modern English food. Tucked away down Warburton street in Didsbury village, which is the last of the original cobbled streets. Small, intimate and inviting, housed in a building of nearly 200 years old, it’s split over two storeys with slightly wonky walls and floors and is nestled amongst an array of privately run businesses from bookshop to gift shop.
As one of the few privately owned local restaurants, we run it day to day as a husband and wife team. We started a love of catering and hospitality early in our teens.
Paul has a passion for seriously sensible food, with hints of exciting flavours from all over the world, making everything from our bread each morning to the chocolate truffles we serve with each coffee. All our food is fresh and homemade. We keep menus seasonal and many favourite dishes remain due to their popular demand. Paul’s Cornish connection can be seen for example in our Cornish cheeses and gins.
Nina, who grew up locally works with her tiny team out front to ensure you of a warm welcome. A keen eye for detail ensures efficient but unobtrusive friendly service.
Awards are not sought, just the joy of seeing our customers return time and time again. Also welcoming new arrivals from our regular’s recommendations. No fuss, no hype we just love food and people.
Our opening hours may be considered concise, but we want to ensure a cosy atmosphere, with guests dining at key times when we can ensure we are both there to look after you, but allowing a little time off to walk the dog!
We hope to welcome you soon.
